About the founder

Karen Kunin is the founder of Elm Square Consulting. She has a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business Management from the University of the Philippines and holds a Health Information Management and Coding diploma from Polk State College in Lakeland, Florida, and a Certification in EMR Implementation Management from Indian River State College in Port Richie, Florida.

Karen traveled and provided consulting services to several hospitals and healthcare institutions nationwide. As an Epic consultant, she was a team leader. She created training materials customized to the Practices’ needs for staff training. With her development of multiple test patients, she was able to test and validate the trained clinical staff. She supported physician affiliate practices including EpicCare Ambulatory, Procedure Orders, and ClinDoc. In addition to EpicCare Ambulatory she also supported Go-Lives including plastic surgery, allergy and immunology, oncology, and neurology. By documenting and building network, she fostered a successful team that provided resolution to direct client.

In 2011, with Karen being a Team Leader in the Tampa General Hospital’s MedSurg and Critical Care Units, she provided physician support within the command center. She worked with physicians to set up preference lists, order sets, and SmartTools. She conducted one-on-one or group training as needed. After login information, password verification and/or reset ready for security validation, she set up all personal devices for providers including iPad, Mac, and PC Citrix receivers. Logged, documented and followed up on issued called in via NUMARA. Multiple super users pre- and post LIVE were trained and managed. Karen collaborated with other team leads, hospital leadership, and the project management team to ensure proper coverage, issue resolution, workflow enhancements, and optimization requests.

To date, Karen has built a team of qualified and certified Epic consultants to provide service to the ever-growing healthcare industry and has made it Elm Square Consulting’s mission of providing quality customer service, bridging the gap of technological advances in the ever changing health information system, thus resolving providers’ pain points and achieving rewarding results.
